Medication Safety QI Team organized early 2001, authorized to implement process improvement as needed. Patient Transfer training program implemented, assisted by Physical Therapy Manager. Latex Allergy policy improvement made. Occurrence reporting software upgraded. Process for reporting modified to include wider scope of data for enhanced trending opportunities. Staff educated.

Comments about Intensive Care Unit Physician Staffing:

Separate independent unit staffed by ACLS certified RNs and three Internal Medicine Specialists (IMS), all Board Certified or Eligible. One Certified in Geriatrics. IMS admit most patients, consult for others, attend patients daily, 24-hour call. Average phone response time - 5 minutes. Critical Care Committee governs ICU activities.
